Bonefishing august 2010
We had very good fishing conditions for our last flyfishing session on north caledonian flats in August 2010.
Many bones were caught by Justin, our customer from Australia, with an average weight of 8 lbs!
Justin who is a good flyfisherman could make the most of very good weather conditions, and our guide Laurent could demonstrate one more time his exceptionnal ability to track down bonefishes all over endless flats. Our customer's aim was to hook at least one of New Caledonia reknown bones... Thus, nine "ghosts of the flats" were caught during the first fishing day, all were the biggest Justin had ever hooked in thirty years of flyfishing all around the world!! "Only" four were caught on second day, and a very beautiful golden trevally complemented his results.
Tide waiting periods have been dedicated to deep blue flyfishing, and Justin hooked several spanish mackerels and queenfishes on many nice large streamers... and nearly lost all off them!! Thanks to beautiful sharks haunting lagoon waters, we could get beautiful pictures and videos.
Nevertheless, Justin found this really exciting and has already decided his next trip in New Caledonia next year, for one complete week in our Tâânlo Fishing Camp, with the secret hope of a 20lbs monster...
Justin's opinion about bonefishing with TFS in New Caledonia?
" If you want to learn bonefishing, just don't come here!! There are so many small bones elsewhere, much easier to catch... But if you want to reach bonefishing pinnacle, if you're looking for a trophy bonefish, New Caledonia is the place you must come! Flyfishing here is really challenging for confirmed flyfishermen... big bones density is just amazing!
Fishing with TFS team was really exciting! "
Thank you Justin!! We will be so glad to welcome you again!
